Updated Download Link, and future changes [Updated 01/24]

Updated on 24 Jan ’14: I have removed the hyperlink in this post since it describes an older version of the software. You can download the latest version from the Manga Downloader Page. However if you still want to check out the older version, it is available in the archives.

I’m so so sorry folks! I’m always logged in into 4shared so I didn’t realise that nowadays the file-sharing site required you to create an account and log in before you could download anything. It’s unfair for anyone who is interested in trying out Mangafox Downloader to have to go through those extra steps first… I suppose I must have chased away potentially interested people that way unknowingly!

Well what’s done is done, the only thing I can do now is try and fix it. Here’s the latest download link, and I assure you it’s completely easy to download! I’m working on adding a few extra features before I include other sites as well and make it into a full fledged “Manga Downloader” finally!

P.S. Some extra features have already been added. You can now choose your preferred download location/folder. This is a very basic and essential feature and I’m sorry I hadn’t added it yet! I have to get better at figuring what all features MUST be added first. The next thing I’m working on is creating the .zip/.rar/.cbr/.cbz files so that it’ll be easier reading with manga reader softwares.

So here’s the link:

Going open source

Now that the MangaFox Downloader v2.0 is in a respectable condition, I’ve decided to go open source! Yay!

I don’t know  much about Git and all, so it’s going to take a while but the first step’s been taken! I registered into SourceForge.net just a few minutes ago, and it’s not long till it’s in there… hopefully 😀 😀

Why open source? Well… it’s not like I’m building a secret weapon. If my code helps someone else out, it’s cool. Alternately, if someone has some great idea and helps me out with the project, it can grow! This is the first step towards making MangaFox Downloader into Manga Downloader after all 😀

Hope it doesn’t take much long ^_^

MangaFox Downloader v2.0’s here! [Post Updated 01/24]

Updated on 24 Jan: The next version is out! Check out the the release blog post here to see what is new… and I assure you a LOT is! I am removing the download link in this page. However, if you still want this version, it’s available in the archives page.

I got a few suggestions regarding the previous version of MangaFox Downloader, and now here’s a levelled-up version for you!

Download the latest version, MangaFox Downloader v2 here. (P.s. link updated! You don’t need to register in 4shared to nab the file now.)

In addition to all the functionalities previously present in the first version (Find out here), MangaFoxDownloader v2 can now get your chapter links for you by itself!

Things that have changed:

Now , if you want, you no longer need to search and enter the link to the manga chapter you want. Now you can just enter the Manga’s name in the text field.

And if the manga is present in MangaFox’s directory then voila! It’ll fetch the list of chapters available.

And then you can download all the chapters you need! However, you will need to make sure you’ve spelled the name correctly… I haven’t added a “closest hit” functionality yet, but it IS in the to-do list!

MangaFox Downloader v2 permits multiple selection, so it makes the downloader even more user friendly.

Finally, I’ve modified the naming pattern of the folders by incorporating not just the chapter name but volume name too. This is because I realised sometimes chapters names are redundant while present in separate volumes. In such a case, the previous version would have just overwritten the first occurring chapter.

So MangaFox Downloader is now much improved, and is still improving. I’d love to get more ideas so that it becomes the best one out there! 😀

And yes, it is a MangaFox Downloader for now, but very soon we will do away with the “Fox” in the name… Ambition ambition!
